Nolly dials in a bass tone on Nail The Mix
If you’re not familiar with our friends at Nail The Mix, they’re an online recording school founded by Joey Sturgis, Eyal Levi and Joel Wanasek. Each month, NTM members get access to the raw multi-tracks from a pro album and a live mixing class from the producer who mixed it.
They were kind enough to have Nolly on to go through “Prayer Position” from Periphery’s “Select Difficulty” album- here’s a a quick excerpt of his 8-hour class where he dials in an amazing bass tone starting with a DI.
Pay special attention to his multi-band saturation trick at around 4:30, where he uses FabFilter’s Saturn as a smart alternative to splitting the track into two (one for clean and one for distortion) as many of you probably do.
